Exploring student teachers’ perceptions of assessment ethics across university-based teacher education programs in Iran

Abstract It is acknowledged that assessment ethics an integral part of teacher education. Unlike sizable published research on students' perceptions in higher education, very little reported student teachers' across university-based education programs. This study aimed to explore Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) teachers’ the classroom. Qualitative (phone interview) data from 15 TEFL candidates were collected and analyzed using thematic content analysis. Based informants' responses, three overarching issues emerged are namely related (a) development (i.e., underrepresentation, one-dimensional assessment, surprise items), (b) administration(i.e., time, noise, inconsistency educators' behaviors), (c) scoring communication lack transparency feedback provision' 'misalignment grading practice,' 'breaching confidentiality grade communication'). Furthermore, it was revealed is, for great part, teacher-initiated summative-oriented. In light these findings, this can inform professional programs
